We have chosen to not use silver amalgam/mercury fillings because the technology involved with them is well over 100 years old. There are also several disadvantages to amalgam, including seepage and mercury content. At Grand Dental Studio, our general dentists provide patients with the newest, and what we consider to be the best, alternative, which are bonded composite resin fillings.

Composite fillings look natural, and they provide better protection for your teeth, as they eliminate all the shortcomings of the old-fashioned silver fillings. Composites seal with tooth structure better, insulate against hot and cold better, and if they wear down, they can be repaired more easily than amalgams. Many people choose to remove dark silver fillings and have white, natural-looking composite fillings placed as part of a cosmetic dental enhancement.
